Healing Process After Surgery
Ear corrective surgery is performed under local cosmetic and on occasions the surgeon may recommend an overnight hospital stay. The surgeon may recommend general cosmetic for younger children to ensure a deep sleep during the surgery. Surgery usually last between 1.5 to 2 hours,more severe cases may take longer. In these cases, the surgeon will advise accordingly.
Adult and children will be able to walk immediately after surgery and generally will be seen on a day patient basis. The recovery period is relatively easy.Minor ear pain will
occur for a few days and painkillers will be recommended.
The bandages will be removed and replaced with a lighter dressing in the form of headband seven days after the surgery similar Following the removal of the initial dressing, the surgeon will provide a lighter dressing in the form of a headband, similar to a tennis band. This dressing will need to remain on during the day to protect and maintain the shape of the ear during the healing process.
Dissolvable stitches normally heal within the first week.It is recommended that activity involving the bending of the ear(s)is avoided for at least 2 weeks following surgery.

Younger children are recommended to be absent from school for at least 7 days following surgery and any consequent activity will require care.
